4th September 2025

We are saddened to hear that Visit Kent has ceased trading with immediate effect.

While this news represents a considerable loss for the Ashford Borough, we will work closely with all stakeholders and partners throughout this transitional period.

We wish to extend our sincere appreciation to the Visit Kent team for their dedication in championing tourism within our borough, and Kent as a whole. Our joint efforts in promoting local destinations and supporting businesses have raised Ashford’s profile as a tourism destination and we are very proud of the collective projects we have achieved together.

We support Kent County Council in their endeavours to bring forward options to replace the visitor economy provision and look forward to working with them to continue to promote Ashford and Tenterden as an outstanding tourism destination, ensuring visitors and local businesses benefit from engaging, effective support and outreach.

Cllr Heather Hayward, Portfolio Holder for Performance and Direction at Ashford Borough Council said: “The loss of Visit Kent will undoubtedly affect the tourism industry in Kent, but as a council we endeavour to work alongside our stakeholders to ensure that we can continue to promote the Ashford Borough and support all of the incredible tourism businesses that operate in Ashford. We appreciate Visit Kent's support in lobbying for the return of Eurostar to Ashford and Kent as well as their support to promote Ashford and Kent as a key Wine Tourism destination. As a Council, we will continue to work on these projects and wider tourism promotion.”
